Oving scarecrow day 2024

Another huge success for the village!

We were very proud to be part of this year’s Oving Scarecrow Day which was held on Saturday 11th May.

Scarecrow Day is an annual event, and a big occasion in the Oving village calendar and after the success of the Christmas Fair, we were keen to make sure that a good time was had by all! Held each May it draws in many visitors from our local Chichester area and further afield. And this year’s did not disappoint!

The weather was on our side with warm sunshine all day which helped to create a fantastic atmosphere. Everyone enjoyed the wide array of activities which were brilliantly organised by the Scarecrow Day Committee, and included a samba band, archery, classic cars, ferret racing and tractor and trailer rides offering a tour of the village and a chance to see all of the fantastic scarecrows on display.

We had a steady flow of visitors to the Oving Cow Shed throughout the day, with a mixture of  familiar faces along with a number of  people who were visiting us for the first time. Everyone who joined us had the chance to enjoy free samples of our milkshakes and delicious chocolate brownies freshly baked by Carla’s Cakes. The children also enjoyed our farm themed lucky dip and lots of fun was had with our new selfie board.

Our Earth Cycle team also joined in the fun with their stand next to the Cow Shed showcasing their wide range of compost and garden products as well as seed potting for the children.

Overall, the event was a huge success for the village with lots of positive feedback about the day and we are very much looking forward to next years already!
